DJ Preparations For Your Wedding Reception

Your wedding reception DJ will play a critical role in keeping your guests entertained. Communicating with your DJ and preparing a setlist that will be played throughout the evening will prompt your guests to dance, mingle with others, and enjoy themselves throughout the festivities.

The Playlist

Contemplate songs that can be played when formally introducing you and your spouse and your wedding party. The songs that you pick out should be symbolic of the occasion. Pick out some additional songs that can be played for various dances that you will be showcasing. A nice song that is representative of the father of the bride and the bride or one that will be representative of a themed dance activity will ensure that your guests focus on the dancing portion of the reception.

Music can also be incorporated into the cocktail hour, the cutting of the cake, and other activities that you are planning on adding to your reception. Provide your DJ with a full breakdown of how the reception will unfold. This will allow them to suggest a set number of songs that will fill the allotted time for each activity. Finalize your song selections with your DJ well before the reception is to take place. During the finalization process, you will have the opportunity to make adjustments to the playlist.

The Emcee Role

An emcee acts as a master of ceremonies. This role often involves speaking to a crowd via a microphone. The level of interaction that your wedding reception DJ has with your guests is solely at your and your spouse's discretion. Some DJs may be more interactive than others and have a natural flair for keeping guests entertained. Decide how much you would like the DJ to speak. You and your significant other may want them to speak at the beginning of a new activity, but not be receptive to them speaking throughout the reception.

You may also be seeking a lot of involvement with your guests. Your DJ can provide you with a sample rendition of how they will speak to your reception guests. If you would like to have your DJ speak a lot, make sure that they have a listing of names that they may need to call upon during the festivities. For instance, if you are going to host some activities that will require your wedding party to be actively involved, your DJ should be able to readily call upon each person who will be taking part in the activity.
